a room with a view

One doesn’t come to Italy for niceness, one comes for life. Buon giorno! Buon giorno!

Florence has always been a natural book, novel, movie or tv series set. One of my first movie meemories is James Ivory’s  movie”A Room with a View”, adapted form E.M. Foster novel. The young English Lucy Honeychurch’s trip to Italy became the discovery of her life, her passions and her freedom.  Tuscany and Italy were seen as the “soul place”. It was the time of “Le grand tour” and the first tourists came here looking for Renaissance time, freedom and maybe a meaning for their life. That  room with a special view on the city meant life.

At the time, I was impressed by the cast: Helena Bonham Carter, Julian Sands, Daniel Day Lewis, Maggie Smith,  Judi Dench…and in these days Florence is celebrating the director James Ivory and the cast with a special screening.

I simply thank this movie, the director and the cast with a picture, George (Julian Sands) kissing Lucy  (Helena Bonham Carter)  with the Duomo  Complex seen form the famous view 😉 An iconic scene that made us dream!
